The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that nighttime closures and detours on Paddock Avenue and intermittent 15-minute closures on Route 15 for Paddock bridge girder installation in Meriden. The work is scheduled to begin on Sunday night, June 22, 2025, and it will last for approximately five weeks.
A detour needs to be implemented at Paddock Avenue while the new bridge girders are installed. Traffic will also be halted intermittently for 15-minute periods on Route 15 (north and southbound lanes) while the girders are lifted across the highway and being set in place. After the closures on Route 15, one lane in each direction will be reopened.
CTDOT Project No. 0079-0246 was awarded to O&G Industries at a cost of $185,000,000 on January 29, 2024, and is scheduled to be completed November 30, 2028. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
There will be intermittent nighttime lane closures on Route 15 north and southbound underneath the Paddock Avenue Bridge; with traffic being Halted for 15-minute closures from between 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Paddock Avenue will be closed at the Bridge at night beginning, Sunday night, June 22 from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00a.m. and detours will be as follow:
Northbound Traffic Detour
- From south of the Paddock Avenue Bridge on Paddock Avenue, head south
- Left onto Murdock Avenue
- Left onto Research Parkway
- Left onto East Main Street
Southbound Traffic Detour
- From north of the Paddock Avenue Bridge on Paddock Avenue, head north
- Right onto East Main Street
- Right onto Research Parkway
- Right onto Murdock Avenue
- Right onto Paddock Avenue
Traffic control signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
