The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 198 in Chaplin and Eastford. This project is scheduled to occur on Monday morning, May 12 and be completed on Friday evening, May 30, 2025. Project No. DOT01720536CN “E” consists of milling and resurfacing an
8.16-mile segment of Route 198 from Route 6 in Chaplin to Route 44 (Pomfret Road) in Eastford. This project is scheduled to perform milling by Rafferty Fine Grading Inc. on Monday, May 12, 2025. The resurfacing segment of this project by American Industries Inc. is anticipated to begin on Tuesday morning, May 13 to Friday evening, May 30, 2025.
This project is included in CTDOT’s 2025 Vendor Resurfacing Program.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 198 from Route 6 in Chaplin to Route 44 (Pomfret Road) in Eastford. Traffic control personnel, crash attenuator vehicles and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. The work schedule for this project is from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
