Highway Bridge Inspection on I-84 Westbound and Route 8 Southbound

1/03/2025

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a highway bridge inspection will be performed on I-84 westbound to Route 8 southbound and ramp from Bank Street to I-84 westbound/Route 8 southbound on the nights of Tuesday, January 21 to Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 8:00 p.m.to 4:00 a.m.

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

I-84 Westbound:

Exit 19 off-ramp to Route 8 southbound will be closed for the inspection of the bridges from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. on the nights of January 21 to 23, 2025. Traffic will be detoured to Exit 18 Highland Avenue (right at gore area). Traffic will make a right onto Highland Ave and proceed along Highland Avenue until the intersection of Sunnyside Avenue. Traffic will turn right and continue to follow Sunnyside Avenue over I-84. Sunnyside Avenue then turns right on ramp for I-84 eastbound/Route 8 southbound.

Ramp 199:

The ramp from Bank Street to I-84 westbound/Route 8 southbound (Ramp 199) will be closed for bridge inspection from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. on the nights of Tuesday, January 21 to Thursday, January 23, 2025. Traffic will be detoured to I-84 ramp 198 (right-turn ramp to I-84 westbound from Bank Street). Drivers will turn right onto Ramp 198 instead of proceeding straight to Ramp 199. Once on I-84 westbound, if drivers need to access Route 8 southbound, they should follow the detour plan in place for the I-84 westbound Exit 19 off-ramp.

Traffic control signing patterns (detours) will guide motorists around the work zone.

Motorists should be aware that modifications to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
