Wrong Way Detection Installation: I-95 Southbound Ramp to Route 1 in New London
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT is announcing that a wrong-way detection installation will be performed at the I-95 southbound exit ramps to Route 1 in New London starting March 5, 2024. The nighttime work is scheduled for Tuesday evening, March 5, 2024, to Wednesday morning, March 6, 2024. The rain date will be Wednesday evening, March 6, 2024, to Thursday morning, March 7, 2024.
RAMP CLOSURE INFO
Exit Ramp to Route 1 North
Motorists can expect a temporary exit ramp closure to occur at the I-95 southbound exit ramp to Route 1 North (Providence, RI) in New London. A detour will be in place at this location. Traffic will be detoured to take the Frontage Road off ramp to Colman Street, take a left onto Colman Street and go over I-95, take a left onto the Frontage Road on ramp and follow Frontage Road back to Briggs Street. Variable message boards will be set up approximately one (1) week prior to the start of this project. Crash attenuator vehicles and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The nighttime work schedule for this project is from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Motorists can expect a temporary exit ramp closure to occur at the I-95 southbound exit ramp to Route 1 South (Colman Street) in New London. A detour will be in place at this location. Traffic will be detoured to the Briggs Street exit ramp, take a left onto Briggs Street and go over I-95, take a left onto the Frontage Road on ramp and follow Frontage Road back to Colman Street. Variable message boards will be set approximately one (1) week prior to the start of this project. Crash attenuator vehicles and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The nighttime work schedule for this project is from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
