Vegetation Management Safety Improvements at Interstate 291/91 Interchange Ramps in Windsor

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing ramp and lane closure for vegetation management safety improvements that will begin April 1, 2024. The project consists of using a material handler with grapple saw to improve sight lines and remove vegetation encroaching the highway.

To ensure the safety of the public, CTDOT is removing dead, diseased, and decaying trees. Additionally, trees and vegetation that have grown into the clear zone, which is the safe space along the side of the roadway, are also being removed. This work helps save lives in the event of a crash or vehicle leaving the roadway.

The project is be performed by J&J Brothers LLC. starting Monday April 1, 2024.

LANE CLOSURE INFO/DETOUR INFO

Motorist can expect ramp and lane closures in the area of the interstate 291/91 interchange beginning April 1st, 2024, and ending May 31st, 2024. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will guide motorists around the work zone. Working hours will be from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Monday-Friday.
