The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 70 east and westbound in Meriden from New Hanover Avenue to Route 71 Old Colony Road starting Thursday, July 25, 2024. The project DOT01710506CN consists of milling and resurfacing a 0.76-mile segment of Route 70 east and westbound in Meriden from New Hanover Avenue to Route 71 Old Colony Road. This project is scheduled to begin milling by Rafferty Fine Grading on Thursday, July 25 to Sunday, July 28, 2024. The resurfacing segment of this project is anticipated to begin on Wednesday, August 7 to Monday, August 12, 2024, by Tilcon.
This project is included in the District 1, CTDOT’s 2024 Vendor Resurfacing Program.

Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 70 east and westbound in Meriden from New Hanover Avenue to Route 71 Old Colony Road. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. The night work schedule for this project is Thursday, July 25 to Monday, August 12, 2024, 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Sunday – Friday.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area. No work will be performed around any scheduled holidays.
