The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 2 east and westbound in Norwich starting July 21, 2024. The project consists of milling and resurfacing a 2.3-mile segment of Route 2 east and westbound in Norwich. The nighttime milling segment for this project is scheduled for Sunday evening, July 21 through Wednesday morning, August 7, 2024. The daytime resurfacing segment of this project is anticipated to be performed on Monday morning, August 12 through Friday evening, August 23, 2024. The nighttime resurfacing segment of this project is anticipated to be performed on Sunday evening, August 25 through Thursday morning, September 19, 2024. Work will end at 5:00 a.m. on Friday morning, August 30 and will resume at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, September 3, 2024, due to the Labor Day holiday.
This project is included in the CTDOT’s 2024 Vendor Resurfacing Program.
LANE CLOSURE INFO:
Motorists can expect lane closures to occur on Route 2 east and westbound in Norwich from the Service Route 642 overpass to Service Route 642 (Town Street). State Police, crash attenuator vehicles and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. The daytime work schedule for this project is from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday morning – Friday evening, and the nighttime work schedule is from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Sunday evening – Friday morning.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
