Connecticut Department of Administrative Services Recognizes National Small Business Week 2023

(HARTFORD, CT) - Today, Connecticut Department of Administrative Services (DAS) Commissioner commemorated National Small Business Week 2023, which takes place from April 30th to May 6th. This annual event celebrates the important contributions that small businesses make to the economy and communities across the State of Connecticut and the country.

"Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, creating jobs and driving economic growth. We are proud to celebrate National Small Business Week and recognize the important role that small businesses play in our state,” Commissioner Michelle Gilman said.

The State of Connecticut has a vibrant community of small businesses, with over 1,800 certified Small and Minority-Owned Businesses (SBE/MBE) registered with the state. DAS assists Connecticut SBE/MBE’s in identifying business opportunities for improved economic growth. The department is also charged with establishing and administering the process for certification of Connecticut SBE/MBE companies.

"We are committed to supporting small businesses in Connecticut," said Commissioner Gilman. "Through DAS’ Supplier Diversity Program, our team provides the support and resources that small businesses need to grow and thrive."
