What happens if I apply for prequalification but my application is denied?

If you don't agree with the DAS's denial of prequalification, you have options. You can ask for copies of the information DAS used to make the preliminary decision within 10 days of receiving the email notifying you that your prequalification was denied.

To appeal the decision, you can send more supporting information to ask DAS to reconsider. You need to do this within 20 days of receiving the email notification. DAS will make a final decision about your application within 90 days of sending the preliminary decision by email.

This 90-day timeframe can be extended for an extra 90 days, but not more than that, if:

  1. DAS sends you a signed notification to let you know they need more time to make a decision.

  2. This notice is sent by email during the initial 90-day period.

The applicant can go to the Superior Court if they don't agree with the DAS's final decision about a preliminary determination, a denial of certification, a reduction in prequalification classification or aggregate work capacity rating, or a revocation or non-renewal of certification. This is allowed by C.G.S. 4-183.”
