Welcome to the webpage for Project 0174-0481, Traffic Control Signal Replacements in Northwestern Connecticut in Ansonia, Burlington, East Granby, Granby, Suffield, Torrington, Watertown, and Winchester.

A virtual public informational meeting for the project was held on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.

This meeting aims to inform the community about the proposed project, gather feedback, and answer any questions. The meeting will take place on Zoom, and registration is required. A question and answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation, which will be recorded.

The purpose of this project is to replace aging and outdated traffic signal infrastructure with new equipment to meet current standards. Replacement locations are selected annually throughout the state based on an assessment of existing conditions at state-owned traffic signals.

Replacements may include span poles, mast arms, pedestals, signal heads, span wires, conduits, vehicle detection equipment, and signing and pavement markings. Modifications will also be done to pedestrian control features which may include pedestrian countdown heads, push buttons, sidewalk ramps, and sidewalk connections.

Right-of-way impacts are expected to be minimal around new signal equipment and sidewalks at some project intersections.

Construction is expected to start in spring 2028. The estimated cost is $12 million with 100% state funds.
