Livery vehicles are exempt from DMV window tint regulations

DMV regulations 14-99g- 1 through 14-99g-8 set the standards for permissible window tint materials and light transmission for vehicles.  However, note that livery vehicles are exempt from the DMV regulations pursuant to 14-99g-8 which currently reads:     The provisions of Sections 14-99g-1 to 14-99g-7, inclusive, shall not be applicable to motor vehicles in livery service, as defined in section 13b-101 of the general statutes. (Effective April 30, 1997).

This information is provided as a courtesy; livery drivers and operators must confirm with DMV that no regulatory changes occurred and that the exemption is still valid.  (updated 1/21/20)
