The purpose of the project is to provide accessibility upgrades, customer experience improvements related to transit-oriented development and local transportation infrastructure upgrades at five stations, including Waterbury, Beacon Falls, Seymour, Ansonia, and Derby-Shelton.
In addition, the southern part of the Republican-American building in Waterbury Station will also be renovated to include an indoor waiting area with seating and restrooms for travelers. There will also be private offices built for station employees.
Right-of-way impacts are anticipated in Seymour and Ansonia during the platform improvements.
Construction is anticipated to begin spring 2025. The estimated construction cost for these projects are approximately $106 million using a combination of federal and state funds.
