The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a detour for the closure of the I-84 merge from Route 72 westbound in Plainville will occur during the night of Friday, December 13, 2024. Work will be performed on the bridge Crooked Street over I-84/Route 72 in Plainville. This work will be done on Friday night December 13, 2024, from 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.
CTDOT Project No. 0170-3557 was awarded to McNamee Construction at a cost of $9,128,103.00 on December 22, 2022, and is scheduled to be completed on October 30, 2025. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 4.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
The access to I-84 from Route 72 westbound will be closed to all traffic the night on Friday, December 13, 2024, between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Traffic will be detoured to remain on Route 72 westbound and proceed to Exit 5, then will be guided back on Route 72 eastbound to Exit 4A which will get them to I-84 westbound. Traffic control signing patterns, VMS Signs and cones will guide motorists through the work zone.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
