The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct a virtual public information meeting concerning the replacements of Bridge No. 05520 carrying Parks Road over Broad Brook and Bridge No. 06085 carrying Cooktown Road over unnamed brook, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.
The public information meeting is being held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project. The meeting will take place on Zoom, and registration is required. A question and answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation, which will be recorded. “These projects will improve safety on Parks Road and Cooktown Road and extend the service life while allowing the original superstructure and culvert to remain in place,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Marc Byrnes. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”
The right-of-way impacts associated with the projects consist of permanent slope easements and a right-to-grade driveways to accommodate the raise in the roadway profile, as well as temporary construction easements for the contractor to complete the work.
Construction is anticipated to begin spring 2027 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way, and approval of permit(s).
The estimated construction cost for the replacement of Bridge No. 05520 is approximately $2.8 million. The estimated construction cost for the replacement of Bridge No. 06085 is approximately $2.6 million. These projects are anticipated to be undertaken with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
