The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct a public information meeting concerning the intersection improvements at Bishop’s Corner in West Hartford on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at the Bishop’s Corner Senior Center at 15 Starkel Road in West Hartford. The meeting will begin with an open house, followed by a formal design presentation at 7:00 p.m.
The public information meeting is being held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project. For more information, visit http://portal.ct.gov/WestHartford155-176.
“The purpose of this project is to enhance mobility and improve safety at the intersection for pedestrians and cyclists by removing the channelized right-turn lanes,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Joseph Arsenault. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”
Right-of-way impacts will require minor property acquisitions and easements to accommodate bicycle/pedestrian facilities and traffic signal equipment.
Construction is anticipated to begin summer 2027. The estimated construction cost is approximately $6.9 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
The meeting facility is ADA accessible. Individuals with hearing and/or speech disabilities may dial 711 for Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS).
