The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct a virtual public information meeting concerning the replacement of the bridge carrying Cannon Road over Norwalk River in Wilton on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 7:00 p.m.
The virtual public information meeting is being held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project. The meeting will take place on Zoom, and registration is required. A question and answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation, which will be recorded. For instructions on accessing the meeting and ways to provide comments and ask questions, please visit https://portal.ct.gov/DOTWilton161-145.
“The bridge, which was originally constructed in 1956, will be replaced with two new structures crossing over the Norwalk River,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Andrew Shields. “We encourage the Wilton community and members of the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team for consideration in the design. Public involvement is important for ensuring a successful design and construction process.”
There are right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed improvements. The proposed bridge replacement will require permanent takes, drainage right-of-way, slope easements, and temporary construction impacts.
Construction is anticipated to begin spring 2026 based on funding availability, acquisition of rights of way, and approval of permit(s). The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $6.72 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
