The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will hold a virtual public information meeting concerning the Strawberry Hill Avenue Railroad Bridge Project in Norwalk on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. The purpose of the project is to install a new railroad bridge superstructure and upgrade the bridge substructure.
The meeting provides the community the opportunity to learn about the proposed project and to allow an open discussion of any views and comments concerning the proposed improvements. The meeting will take place on Zoom, and registration is required. A question and answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation. The presentation will be recorded.

“This project will update this critical railroad bridge, improving the bridge’s structural integrity, as well as make the railroad bridge future-ready for faster tracks on the New Haven Line—one of the busiest commuter lines along the Northeast Corridor,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager David Gruttadauria. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the final design.”
The proposed improvements will not require property acquisitions.
Construction is anticipated to begin in the fall of 2023, based on the availability of funding and permit approval(s). The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $10 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with eighty percent (80%) federal funds and twenty percent (20%) state funds. The project is identified as State Project No. 0301-0189.
