The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that construction activities associated with the expansion of truck parking at the Middletown Rest Area along I-91 northbound in Middletown is scheduled to begin on Thursday, October 31, 2024. The project includes expanding the existing parking by adding eleven additional truck parking spots to the site with provisions for associated drainage, stormwater management, site circulation, site access, and site utility modifications.
CTDOT Project No. 0082-0328 was awarded to Empire Paving, Inc. at a cost $3,059,936.25 on September 16, 2024, and is scheduled to be completed September 15, 2025. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.

The rest area will remain open at all times with limited impacts to existing parking. Traffic control signing, barriers, and flaggers will guide motorists and pedestrians through the work zones.
