The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a left lane closure on I-95 northbound Gold Star Memorial Bridge in New London and Groton will begin on April 9, 2024. The rehabilitation project consists of strengthening the truss approach spans of the Gold Star Memorial Bridge. The work requires the closing of a right or left shoulder and adjacent lane while activities are proceeding below the deck surface on the truss sections of the bridge. This work began February 28, 2022, with an anticipated completion date of June 25, 2025.
CTDOT Project No. 0094-0256 was awarded to Aetna Bridge Company for $50,895,103.60 on December 1, 2021, and is scheduled to be completed June 25, 2025. This project is being administered by the Division of Construction Operations, District 2 in Norwich.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
Beginning April 9, 2024, the left shoulder and adjacent lane will be closed for the duration of construction or until further notice. This will reduce the Gold Star Memorial Bridge to four lanes in the northbound direction on I-95. The lane closures will be maintained with a combination of construction signs, traffic drums, and other traffic control devices. Motorists are advised to use caution and maintain a safe speed when driving through work zones.
