The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that, to facilitate construction work associated with the Route 8/I-84 Interchange (Mixmaster) rehabilitation project in Waterbury, multiple lanes on I-84 Eastbound will need to be closed during daytime hours.
Motorists are advised that multiple lanes on I-84 Eastbound will need to be closed during daytime hours on two consecutive weekends beginning Saturday, October 14, 2023.
Multiple lanes on I-84 Eastbound will need to be closed on Saturday, October 14 and Sunday, October 15, 2023, and on Saturday, October 21 and Sunday, October 22, 2023. The project team will be placing waterproofing membrane on the rehabilitated bridge decks in preparation for paving. This needs to be completed during the daytime hours due to temperature and dewpoint restrictions needed for the membrane to adhere correctly. Motorists are advised that these lane closures may cause significant traffic delays.
The project consists of the rehabilitation of numerous bridges located within the Route 8 and I-84 Interchange (DOT Project No. 151-326/151-312/151-313) and was awarded to Walsh Construction Company at a cost of $152,960,945.27 on April 18, 2018.
** Please note that the start of this closure can change at any time based on weather or resources. **
