9/14/2023

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the start of work on Route 74 in the vicinity of Skungamaug Road beginning on September 29, 2023. This project consists of the replacement of Bridge No. 01120 on Route 74 over the Skungamaug River. The pre-bridge closure work for this project involves building temporary access roads for utility work and installing a portion of micro-piles. The next portion of the project will consist of closing the bridge and implementing a detour to demolish the existing bridge. Once micro-piles are completed, the new substructure components will be installed followed by the superstructure components. Final utility relocations will then occur, followed by membrane waterproofing on the bridge deck, pavement, and final applicable markings on the roadway.

CTDOT Project No. 0142-0152 was awarded to ROTHA Contracting Company, Inc. at a cost of $4,779,424.50 on August 16, 2023 and is scheduled to be completed on August 8, 2024. The project is being administered by CTDOT Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Beginning on September 29, 2023 with anticipated completion on August 8, 2024, motorists can expect one-way alternating traffic on Route 74 (Tolland Stage Road) and Skungamaug Road. These lane closures may occur Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
