Replacement of Bridge Deck Joints on Route 9 in Various Locations from Old Saybrook to Cromwell

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the Replacement of Bridge Deck Joints on Route 9 Southbound and Northbound will begin on April 1, 2023.

The project involves the replacement of bridge joints at approximately 44 bridge locations on Route 9 Northbound and Southbound, ranging from Old Saybrook to Cromwell. The Bridge Joint Replacement Program will proactively replace bridge deck joints to systematically address the Route 9 corridor from Old Saybrook to Cromwell. Replacing the bridge joints proactively will address failing joints to prevent the intrusion of water and snow clearing materials from leaking onto major bridge components. Additionally, the project consists of deck ends repairs if necessary.

 

DOT Project No. 0105-0216 was awarded to Mohawk Northeast, Inc. at a cost of $4,877,911.60 on December 9, 2022, and is scheduled to be completed November 3, 2023.  This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 2 in Norwich.
