The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the start of the weekly 63-hour full bridge closures for all traffic on Route 82 over the Connecticut River (East Haddam Swing Bridge.)
These 63-hour road closures will occur every week through late Fall (excluding State observed holiday weekends).
The scheduled time for each closure will be from Sunday 8 p.m until Wednesday no later than 11 a.m.
Pedestrians and cyclist are advised that during these 63-hour closures, the bridge will be closed to them as well.
Inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances could cause cancellations of a 63-hour road closure, any changes to this schedule will be communicated in a timely manner.

DOT Project No. 0041-0141 was awarded to American Bridge Company at a cost of $55,255,000 on June 7, 2022. It is scheduled to be completed February 25, 2025. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 2 in Norwich.

Route 82 Eastbound
From Route 82 East, traffic will be detoured onto Route 9 South to I-95 North (across the Baldwin Bridge) to Route 156 North to Route 82 West.
Route 82 Westbound
From Route 82 West, traffic will be detoured onto Route 156 South to I-95 South (across the Baldwin Bridge) to Route 9 North to Route 82 East.
Traveling to/from the North - utilize the Arrigoni Bridge, Middletown-Portland (unsigned route).
