Detours: South State Street and Washington Boulevard at the Future Stamford Transportation Center Parking Garage

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that all lanes of South State Street between Greenwich Avenue and Washington Boulevard, and Washington Boulevard between North State Street and Station Place will be closed during the installation of the pedestrian bridge from the new garage to the Stamford Transportation Center during non-peak hours between August 26 through August 27, 2023, and August 28 through September 1, 2023.

The project consists of the following elements:

  • 928-space, 7-level parking garage located on South State Street, Stamford
  • 320-foot pedestrian bridge over Washington Boulevard connecting the garage to the Stamford Transportation Center (STC)
  • Elevators and stairs connecting the garage to the Track 5 platform
  • 38 electric vehicle parking spaces
  • 150 bike parking spaces
  • Centralized STC parking management space and customer counter
  • Unique architectural design and façade lighting program
  • Building-integrated photovoltaics for on-site energy production
  • Minor STC renovations at the pedestrian bridge connection
  • Pedestrian crossing improvements at South State Street & Washington Boulevard
  • Connectivity to the planned Mill River Greenway

 

CTDOT Project no. 0301-0047 was awarded to Yonkers Contracting Company at a cost of $77,211,000 on May 14, 2021 and is scheduled to be completed in September 2023. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction – District 5 in New Haven.
