The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that the replacement of Bridge No. 02591, Route 97 over Fuller Brook in Hampton, will begin on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. This project consists of removing and replacing the existing culvert bridge and all the superstructure elements above. The new bridge will be constructed above the 100-year design storm elevation.
CTDOT Project No. 0062-0096 was awarded to New England Road, Inc. at a cost of $2,463,762.00 on September 25, 2023, and is scheduled to be completed November 12, 2024. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 2 in Norwich.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
There will be a lane closure on Route 97 from approximately the start of construction until May 13, 2024. Temporary signalization will be used at the bridge location while the lane closure is active.
DETOUR INFO
Route 97 will be closed from May 13, 2024, to August 18, 2024. Traffic will be detoured onto Route 44, Route 169, and Route 6.
