The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that Ultra-Thin Bonded Polymer Modified Asphalt (PMA) activities on Interstate 84 in Middlebury and Waterbury and Route 4 in Goshen will begin on May 23, 2022.
The project consists of installing ultra-thin bonded on I-84 and Route 4. Other upgrades include miscellaneous bridge deck rehabilitations, centerline rumble strips on Route 4 and minor intersection upgrades at Interstate 84 Eastbound, Exit 17 and 18 Off-Ramps.
DOT Project No. 0174-0455 was awarded to Tilcon Connecticut, Inc. at a cost of $8,302,100.60 on April 30, 2022 and is scheduled to be completed November 18, 2022. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 4 in Thomaston.
LANE CLOSURE INFO:
Traffic is expected to be impacted starting May 31, 2022 with various lane and shoulder closures on I-84 between Exits 16 and 19. Most lane closures on I-84 will occur approximately from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. – or as specifically noted in the contract documents.
Traffic impacts are also to be expected on Route 4 starting on May 31, 2022. One way alternating traffic will occur as referenced below:
Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Saturday and Sunday between 6 p.m. and 10 a.m.
Any detour needed will have signage installed 14 days in advance to allow for proper notice.
