The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing lane closures to facilitate the start of construction at the intersection of Colt Highway (Route 6 & Service Route 531) with Interstate 84 Eastbound Entrance Ramp to start June 27, 2022.
The project consists of safety improvements to the Colt Highway (Route 6 & SR 531) at the Eastbound Entrance Ramp to Interstate 84 in the Town of Farmington. Proposed improvements consist of realignment of the westbound lanes of Colt Highway and the entrance ramp to reduce turning movement speeds from the eastbound direction and signal control to improve balance between eastbound left-turning vehicles and eases visibility for westbound vehicles. The realignment of the entrance ramp will provide a perpendicular connection to Colt Highway, which will effectively lower turning speeds of eastbound left turning vehicles and ease visibility for westbound right-turning drivers. The realignment of the westbound lanes on Colt Highway eliminates the “X” type connection and provides a more desirable alignment for signalization and westbound through movements.
DOT Project No. 0051-0274 was awarded to Paramount Construction, LLC. Of 49 Hollow Tree Lane in Newington, Ct. at a cost of $3,990,051.00 on April 06, 2022 and is scheduled to be completed November 2023. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 4 in Thomaston.
