The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that Safety Improvements on The Merritt Parkway will begin on or about May 16, 2022.
The project involves the implementation of various safety improvements along Route 15 (Merritt Parkway) from Exit 37 (Route 124/South Avenue) to Exit 40B (Main Avenue).
DOT Project No. 0102-0296 was awarded to Yonkers Contracting Company, Inc. at a cost of $55,711,300.00 on April 13, 2022, and is scheduled to be completed October 31, 2024. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 3 in New Haven.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
Starting on or about May 16, 2022, motorists can expect lane restrictions and realignments on Route 15 between Exit 37 (Route 124/South Avenue) and Exit 40B (Main Avenue). The regular work schedule for this project is Monday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Some activities may occur during the daytime with shoulder closures Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.
Segments of the following routes will be impacted by this project:
- Route 15 from Exit 37 (Route 124/South Avenue) to Exit 40B (Route 719/Main Avenue)
- Route 15 in the vicinity of the Lapham Road overpass
- Route 124 in the vicinity of the Route 15 overpass
- Route 123 in the vicinity of the Route 15 overpass
- Route 7 in the vicinity of the Route 15 overpass
- Route 719 in the vicinity of the Route 15 overpass
More detailed information will be provided in advance of specific work activities impacting traffic on Route 15, its ramps, and local roads over the course of this three-year project.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to these schedules may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limits and to utilize caution through this and all other construction work zones.
