The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing periodic nighttime closures of the I-691 Exit 7 Eastbound on-ramp and off-ramp and Exit 8 Westbound on-ramp with signed detours between March 28 and April 1, 2022.
The project consists of resurfacing, bridge rehabilitations, safety improvements, signing upgrades and illumination replacement.
DOT Project No. 0079-0244 was awarded to Manafort Brothers, Inc. at a cost of $48,865,177.75 on December 30, 2020. Construction began in September 2021 and is scheduled to be completed in October 2023. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction District 4 in Thomaston.
LANE CLOSURE AND DETOUR INFO
Beginning the week of March 28 through April 1, 2022, the I-691 Exit 7 Eastbound on-ramp (Center Street) and off-ramp and Exit 8 Westbound on-ramp (Broad Street) will be periodically closed between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. The on-ramp and off-ramp will be open and operational during peak traffic hours.
During the closures, signed detours will be in place. The Exit 7 Eastbound on-ramp detour will guide motorists from Center Street to Britannia Street, to Broad Street, to Camp Street and onto I-691 Eastbound.
The Exit 7 Eastbound off-ramp detour will guide motorists to Exit 8, to Broad Street, to I-691 Westbound then take Exit 6 (Lewis Avenue).
Exit 8 Westbound on-ramp (Broad Street) detour, vehicles will be detoured from Broad Street to Britannia Street, to Colony Street, and onto I-691 Westbound.
