The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of the installation of Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) at high risk, uncontrolled midblock crosswalks in Bridgeport, Darien, East Haven, Easton, New Haven, Stamford, Trumbull, Weston, Westport, Wilton and Woodbridge on March 14, 2022.
The project consists of installation of rapid rectangular flashing beacons (RRFB) at high risk, uncontrolled, midblock crosswalk locations, upgrade existing RRFBs to meet the latest American Disability Act (ADA) Standard and the installation and revision of curb ramps and associated sidewalk and pavement marking in the following towns:
- Bridgeport, Route 130 at Jetland Street and Melrose Avenue
- Darien, U.S. Route 1 at Norton Presbyterian Church
- East Haven, Route 80 at North High Street
- Easton, Route 58 at Aspetuck Valley Orchards and Route 59 at Silverman Animal Farm
- New Haven, Route 243 at Emerson Street
- Stamford, Route 106 at Seaton Road
- Trumbull, Route 108 at Nichols United Methodist Church
- Weston, Route 57 at Weston Center
- Westport, Route 33 at Road to Landsdowne Condos
- Wilton, Route 106 at Norwalk River Trail
- Woodbridge, Route 114 at Woodbridge Fire Department.
DOT Project No. 0173-0507 was awarded to The NYCONN Corporation on January 26, 2022 at a cost of $498,500.00 and is scheduled to be completed on August 26, 2022. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction – District 3 in New Haven.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
Motorists can expect lane closures Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and between 6 p.m. and 6a.m., and Saturday and Sunday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized when needed to guide motorists through the work zone.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
