The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing periodic nighttime closures of the I-691 Eastbound on-ramp from Lewis Avenue (Exit 6) with signed detours between February 28 and March 11, 2022. The project consists of resurfacing, bridge rehabilitations, safety improvements, signing upgrades and illumination replacement.
DOT Project No. 0079-0244 was awarded to Manafort Brothers, Inc. at a cost of $48,865,177.75 on December 30, 2020. Construction began in September 2021 and is scheduled to be completed in October 2023. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction District 4 in Thomaston.
LANE CLOSURE and DETOUR INFO
Beginning the week of February 28 through March 11, 2022, the I-691 Eastbound on ramp from Lewis Avenue (Exit 6) will be periodically closed between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. One or two lanes along I-691 will be closed to traffic while nighttime work is underway. All lanes will be reopened and operational during peak traffic hours. All work is weather dependent.
During the closures, a signed detour in place. The detour will guide motorists from Lewis Avenue to Kensington Avenue to Center Street to Lake Street and onto I-691 Eastbound. See the detour graphic below.
