The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the start of construction activities for the Rehabilitation of Bridge No. 05944, I-291 and King Street over Podunk River in the Town of South Windsor beginning March 7, 2022.
The project consists of repairing two 12-foot culverts passing under I-291 and King Street as well as replacing headwalls on both ends. King Street North and King Street will be the main access to the construction site. King Street will be closed for a maximum of 140 days during the construction season to facilitate repairing both culverts. Additional information regarding detour dates and routes will be forthcoming.
DOT Project No. 0132-0139 was awarded to Guerrera Construction Co, Inc. at a cost of $4,392,166 on December 21, 2021, and is scheduled to be completed on September 26, 2022. This is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.
