Detour of Route 185 in Bloomfield

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the reconstruction of Route 185 (Simsbury Road) in the vicinity of Tumbledown Brook Channel in Bloomfield. Route 185 will be temporarily closed. A detour will be implemented from August 18, 2022 to September 1, 2022.

A detour will be used to facilitate replacement of an existing corrugated metal culvert with an aluminum plate pipe arch culvert carrying Tumbledown Brook under Route 185.

DOT Project No. 0011-0158 was awarded to Gerber Construction, Inc. at a cost of $1,193,727.00 on May 10, 2022 and is scheduled to be completed in October 2022. This project is administered by the Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.

 

LANE CLOSURE INFO:

The contractor will be allowed to close Route 185 (Simsbury Road) to through traffic and detour traffic for a period of two consecutive weeks during construction.

 

DETOUR INFO:

The eastbound side of Route 185 between Routes 178 and 218 will be detoured via Route 178 easterly to Route 189, take a right onto Route 189, follow Route 189 southbound to Route 218, turn right onto Route 218 west, follow Route 218 westbound to Route 185.

 

The westbound side will be detoured from Route 218 easterly to Route 189, take a left onto Route 189, follow Route 189 northbound to Route 178, turn left onto Route 178 west, follow Route 178 westbound to Route 185.
