Bridge Work on Route 178 in Bloomfield

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing a planned detour of the Route 178 bridge over Beaman’s Brook in Bloomfield from October 8 to October 10, 2022 HAS BEEN CANCELED. 

Instead, work will be completed during the week utilizing one-way alternating traffic patterns. 

 

The project consists of the replacement of Bridge No. 01489 carrying Route 178 over Beaman's Brook in Bloomfield.  The replacement structure is a single span with a clear span of 43 feet between abutment faces supported on integral abutments with piles. 

 

DOT Project No. 0011-0156 was awarded to The Brunalli Construction Company at a cost of $3,243,475 on December 8, 2021 and is scheduled to be completed in November 2022. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.

 

LANE CLOSURE INFO:

Work will continue during the week of October 10 - 14, 2022 with alternating one-way traffic between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. 

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
