The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that Ferry Street between Middletown Avenue and State Street in New Haven will be closed to traffic on or around April 25, 2022.
The project consists of replacement of the existing bridge deck, repairs to the substructures, replacement of the existing bearings and steel stringers, repairs to the bridge steel truss members, milling and paving of the existing pavement and installation of new joints.
DOT Project No. 0092-0685 was awarded to Rotha Contracting Company, Inc., at a cost of $3,046,207.30 and is scheduled to be completed on or around September 13, 2022. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 3 in New Haven.

Ferry Street Closure and Detours
The Ferry Street closure with associated detour will be in effect for a period of approximately 147 days starting on or around April 25, 2022. The Ferry Street closure was originally scheduled for April 18, 2022, and is being postponed due to unanticipated railroad protective shielding work that needs to be completed prior to the road closure. One sidewalk from Middletown Avenue to State Street will remain open for pedestrian access during construction.
Traffic will be detoured onto Blatchley Avenue, then to Lombard Street, and finally onto Middletown Avenue.
Traffic control personnel, signing patterns and temporary signalization will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
