CTDOT is announcing the extension of the road closure of King Street which commenced on April 13,
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the extension of the road closure of King Street which commenced on April 13, 2022 to facilitate construction activities for the Rehabilitation of Bridge No. 05944, Interstate 291 and King Street over Podunk River in South Windsor.
The project consists of repairing two 12-foot culverts passing under I-291 and King Street as well as replacing headwalls on both ends. King Street North and King Street will be the main access to the construction site. King Street will be closed during the construction season to facilitate repairing both culverts.
DOT Project No. 0132-0139 was awarded to Guerrera Construction Co, Inc. at a cost of $4,392,166 on December 21, 2021, and is scheduled to be completed by November 30, 2022. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
The existing closure and detour of King Street will be extended with an anticipated completion of the detour by November 18, 2022. The detour will continue to be in place to guide traffic utilizing Burnham Street, Route 5, Chapel Road and Main Street.
