The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that bridge deck repair work, necessitating the closure of the right lane of Route 5/15 Southbound, including the closure of the right lane of the I-84 Westbound Exit 57 ramp to Route 5/15 Southbound, will begin on Friday night, August 12, 2022.
Phase three of bridge deck work, including repairs, application of waterproof membrane, and paving, on the Route 5/15 Southbound bridge over Silver Lane in East Hartford, are scheduled to begin, as part of the I-91 Charter Oak Bridge Project.
CTDOT Project number 0063-0703 and 0159-0191 was awarded to O&G / BHD, Joint Venture at a cost of $240 million. Work began on April 1, 2019 and is anticipated to be totally completed by October 18, 2022. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Hartford.
RAMP CLOSURE INFORMATION:
The right lane of Route 5/15 Southbound, including the right lane of I-84 Westbound Exit 57 to Route 5/15 Southbound, will be closed continuously from Friday, August 12 at 8 p.m. to Wednesday, August 17, at 6 a.m. The left lane of I-84 Westbound Exit 57 will remain open during this period. I-84 Westbound motorists seeking Route 15 Southbound and I-91 Southbound should expect delays through the work area.
