The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the nighttime closure of On and Off Ramps along Interstate 691 westbound at Exit 7 on or around April 11. Work will continue through May 2 at various ramp locations.
The project consists of resurfacing, bridge rehabilitations, safety improvements, signing upgrades and illumination replacement. Preliminary work will include pavement coring/sampling and drainage structure inspections.
DOT Project No. 0079-0244 was awarded to Manafort Brothers, Inc. at a cost of $48,865,177.75 on December 30, 2020. Construction started in September 2021 and will be completed in October 2023. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 4 in Thomaston.
LANE CLOSURE and DETOUR INFO
During the week of May 2 between 7 PM and 6 AM, the I-691 WB Exit 4 On and Off Ramps, I-691 EB Exit 7 On and Off Ramps, I-691 EB Exits 8 On and Off Ramps will be closed temporarily directing traffic to take the following detours:
For the I-691 WB Exit 4 On Ramp from West Main Street, vehicles will be directed to get onto I-691 in the Eastbound direction and take Exit 5 to Chamberlain Highway and then onto I-691 Westbound.
For the I-691 WB Exit 4 Off Ramp, vehicles will be directed to take Exit 3 to Highland Avenue, back onto I-691 in the Eastbound direction and take Exit 4 to West Main Street.
For the I-691 EB Exit 7 On Ramp from Lewis Avenue, vehicles will be directed to continue to take Lewis Avenue to Kensington Avenue, then to Center Street, next to Lake Street, and finally onto I-691 EB.
For the I-691 EB Exit 8 Off Ramp to Broad Street, vehicles will be directed to take Exit 10 to Wilbur Cross Parkway, then take East Main Street, and finally take Broad Street.
For the I-691 EB Exit 8 On Ramp from Broad Street, vehicles will be directed to continue to take Broad Street to Britannia Street, then to Center Street, next to Lake Street, and finally onto I-691 EB.
