The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that for two consecutive weekends, beginning at 8:00 PM on Friday, September 24, until 6:00 AM Monday, September 27, and from 8:00 PM on Friday, October 1, until 6:00 AM Monday, October 4, 2021, there will be lane closures on Route 8 northbound in Waterbury to facilitate rehabilitation of Bridges over Platts Mill Road and Metro-North Railroad.
The project consists of the rehabilitation and repair work on Bridges 03176, 03177, 03178, and 03179 over the Naugatuck River and Metro-North Railroad.
Motorists are advised that one lane of traffic in the northbound direction will be maintained during the weekend period from 8:00 PM Friday until 6:00 AM Monday.
The contractor will be allowed to halt Route 8 traffic not to exceed 10 minutes to perform necessary work for minor items or for moving barrier.
If inclement weather causes delays, work will be postponed until the following weekends.
DOT Project 0151-0333/0334 was awarded to Walsh Construction Company II at a cost of $14,996,340 on January 21, 2021, and is scheduled to be completed by November 30, 2021.
