The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of work activity for the complete replacement of Bridges 01140 and 05401, beginning on or about February 1, 2021.
The project consists of the full replacement of both structures just west of Route 11. The new bridges will consist of precast structural elements such as wingwalls, abutments, and bridge deck units set upon galvanized steel girders. The abutment footings will bear on steel H-piles. Relocation of overhead utilities will be required to facilitate construction activities.
TRAFFIC IMPACTS
Traffic may be impacted on Route 82 between Woodbridge Road and Route 11 in Salem starting on Monday, February 1, 2021, through the anticipated completion date of Sunday, November 7, 2021. Motorists can expect alternating one-way traffic configurations between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and possibly during any weekday or weekend during nighttime hours.
A full road closure and detour will be necessary for a maximum duration of 65 consecutive days, beginning or about June 19, 2021, to August 22, 2021. The closure will facilitate the demolition of the existing structures and construction of the new bridges. Detour routes will be clearly marked and additional notification will be provided prior to the closure.
DOT Project No. 0120-0090 was awarded to The Brunalli Construction Company at a cost of $5,153,388.15, on December 16, 2020, and is scheduled to be completed November 7, 2021.
