The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the Ferry Street bridge rehabilitation project over Amtrak Railroad in New Haven (between Middletown Avenue and State Street) will begin on July 16, 2021.
The project consists of replacement of the existing bridge deck, repairs to substructures, replacement of the existing bearings and steel stringers, repairs to the bridge steel truss members, milling and paving of the existing pavement and installation of new expansion joints.
Motorists can expect alternating one way traffic on Ferry Street between Middletown Avenue and State Street using temporary traffic devices and traffic control personnel from on or about July 16, 2021, through September 13, 2022. One sidewalk from Middletown Avenue to State Street will remain open for pedestrian access during construction.
A closure and detour of Ferry Street will occur for a period of 147 days starting on or around April 1, 2022, to facilitate the bridge deck replacement. A press release will be issued in advance of the closure.
DOT Project No. 0092 - 0685 was awarded to Rotha Contracting Company, Inc., at a cost of $3,046,207.30 and is scheduled to be completed on September 13, 2022.
