The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the commencement of work on July 1, 2021, for the rehabilitation of Bridge 03023 which carries Sigourney Street over Capitol Avenue, Amtrak, CTFastrak, a private road and the Aetna parking lot.
The project consists of bridge joint replacements, blast cleaning and painting of beam ends and floor beams, localized repairs and spot painting of superstructure steel, removal of deteriorated concrete, replacement of the existing concrete deck, replacement of steel bearings, and replacement of the asphalt wearing surface.
TRAFFIC IMPACTS
Sigourney Street, Capitol Avenue, Russ Street, Park Terrace, Parking Garage Access Road and CTFastrak:
- The contractor will be allowed to interfere with traffic Monday through Friday between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm and 6:00 am, and Saturday and Sunday between 6:00 pm and 10:00 am.
I-84 Ramps:
- The contractor will be allowed to interfere with traffic Monday through Friday between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm and 6:00 am.
DOT Project No. 0063-0719 was awarded to Rotha Contracting Company, Inc. at a cost of $11,235,266.35 on June 1, 2021, and is scheduled to be completed on November 13, 2022.
