Virtual Public Information Meeting Concerning the Rehabilitation of Bridge 05010 Carrying West Glen Drive over Mianus Brook in Stamford

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (Department) will conduct a public information meeting concerning the proposed rehabilitation of Bridge 05010 carrying West Glen Drive over Mianus River, on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. The formal presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m. Refer to the project webpage for more detail: https://portal.ct.gov/DOTStamford135-345.

The project is identified as State Project No. 0315-0345.

The purpose of the project is to replace the superstructure of Bridge 05010, which is currently structurally deficient. The existing structure, built in 1964, consists of a single span precast concrete tee-beam superstructure supported by reinforced concrete abutments and wingwalls. The total structure length is 63-feet and the curb-to-curb roadway width is 30-feet. The proposed superstructure replacement consists of a galvanized steel stringer superstructure supported on existing concrete abutments. The structure will have a 60-foot clear span with a 30-foot curb-to-curb width consisting of two, 11-foot travel lanes and two, 4-foot shoulders.

Temporary and permanent right of way  impacts are anticipated for this project. Minor property acquisitions in the form of a permanent acquisition or a permanent easement may be required for roadway or structural features. Temporary construction easements will be required at all four corners of the proposed bridge for construction.

Construction is anticipated to begin in Spring 2023 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way and approval of permit(s). The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $1.5 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80-percent federal funds and 20-percent municipal funds.

The public information meeting is being held to afford a full opportunity for public participation and to allow open discussion of any views and comments the community may have concerning this proposed project.
