The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 34 in Orange and West Haven.
The project consists of milling and resurfacing 4.05 miles of Route 34 in Orange and West Haven. This project is scheduled to occur Tuesday, May 4, 2021, through Monday, June 28, 2021. The milling segment of this project is anticipated to be performed on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, through Thursday, June 3, 2021. The resurfacing segment of this project is anticipated to be performed on Thursday, June 3, 2021, through Monday, June 28, 2021.
No work will occur during the Memorial Day weekend from Friday morning May 28, 2021, through Monday, May 31, 2021. Work will resume on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.
This project is included in the Department of Transportation’s 2021 Vendor Resurfacing Program.
Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 34 from Route 121 (Grassy Hill Road) to .13 mile west of Route 122 (Forest Road). Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The night work schedule for this project is 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (Sunday night through Friday morning).
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to remain alert, drive cautiously, and to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
