Gas Main Water Main Installation on Route 124 in New Canaan
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that gas main and water main installations will be performed on Route 124 in New Canaan. The project is scheduled to occur on Sunday night August 29, 2021, through Monday morning September 13, 2021.
No work will occur during the Labor Day weekend from Friday morning September 3, 2021, through Monday, September 6, 2021. Work will resume on Tuesday night, September 7, 2021.
The project is being performed by the Eversource Gas Company and Aquarion Water Company under encroachment permits with the CTDOT.
Motorists can expect Route 124 (Main Street) to be closed at Locust Avenue to East Avenue with a detour guiding motorists around the closure. The detour consists of motorists being directed onto Locust Avenue to Cherry Street back onto Main Street. Signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists around the work zone.
The work schedule for this project is 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (Sunday through Thursday nights).
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to remain alert, drive cautiously, and to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
