The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the Exit 20 Off Ramp from Interstate 84 Westbound will be closed to facilitate construction work associated with the Route 8/I-84 Interchange (Mixmaster) rehabilitation project in Waterbury.
The project consists of the rehabilitation of numerous bridges located within the Route 8 and I-84 Interchange (DOT Project No. 151-326/151-312/151-313) and was awarded to Walsh Construction Company at a cost of $152,960,945.27 on April 18, 2018. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 4, Thomaston.
RAMP CLOSURE:
Exit 20 Off Ramp from I-84 Westbound will be closed intermittently beginning May 9, 2022 and is expected to extend until June 1, 2022. Closures will occur during overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour.
DETOUR INFO:
Motorists should take Exit 18 (W. Main Street/Highland Avenue). Take a right off exit onto Hamilton Avenue. At the first light, take a right onto Chase Parkway and follow to the I-84 Eastbound on-ramp to Exit 20 (Route 8 Northbound/Torrington).
