Welcome to the webpage for State Project No. 0118-0188, Rocky Hill-Glastonbury Ferry Launch Site ADA and Lighting Improvements in Rocky Hill.
A virtual public informational meeting for the project was held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. The recording of that event can be accessed at the CTDOT Virtual Public Information Meeting Video Library.
This meeting is being held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project. This meeting will take place on Zoom, and registration is required. A question and answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation, which will be recorded.
The purpose of this project is to is to increase pedestrian access by improving sidewalks, lighting, and installing benches for those who enjoy watching the loading/unloading of cars and interacting with ferry crew. The project will also involve the installation of a gate system at the Glastonbury and Rocky Hill locations to prevent unauthorized access to the slip outside of operations.
Right-of-way impacts are minor as all work will be completed within state ROW. Some staging/stockpiling of materials will be located on town property, no private property will be used or acquired for the proposed work. An easement within state ROW is being created for the adjacent property owner on the south side of the Rocky Hill location to provide additional private parking.
Construction is expected to occur in the 2025/2026 ferry off-season, depending on funding, right-of-way, and permits.
The estimated cost is $400,000 with 100% state funds.
