Creating a Blurb (External Link)

If you are looking to add a hyperlink to an external website that you want to appear in your Agency navigation or a dynamic list, you'll need to create a Blurb, also known as an external link. For Blurbs to display on your website, they will need to be tagged as well. Blurbs can be tagged to appear in two locations: Agency Navigation and Dynamic Lists.

NOTE: Blurbs are for Full Migration Agencies Only.

Create a Blurb

  1. From the Content Editor, navigate to the folder you wish to insert a blurb under.
  2. Select the Blurb button from the Content Area, or you can right-click on the folder and select Insert > Blurb from the drop down.
  3. A dialog box appears. Enter the Blurb title (this is the title of the link that appears on your website).
  4. Select OK.
  5. Scroll to the Blurb section and select the Insert external link option.

  6. Fill in the following fields:
    • Link Description - The title of the Blurb (external link)
    • URL - the external web address (URL)
    • Target Window - New window (opens the link in a new window)
  7. Select OK.
  8. Scroll to the Topic Association Section in the Content Area.
  9. Tag the Blurb to any Agency Navigation topic and/or Dynamic List. (Learn more on tagging.)
  10. Save Save icon your changes.
  11. Publish the Blurb.

 

Edit the Blurb

Change the Blurb Title (changes the title shown on your Website)
  1. Select the Blurb title in the Content Tree.
  2. Scroll to the Base Data Section in Content Area.
  3. Change the Blurb Title in the Content Title field.
  4. Save Save icon your changes.
  5. Publish the Blurb.
Edit the Blurb HyperLink
  1. Select the Blurb title in the Content Tree.
  2. Scroll to the Blurb section and select the Insert external link option.
  3. Edit the URL.

  4. Select OK.
  5. Save Save icon your changes.
  6. Publish the Blurb.
Change the Blurb name
  1. Select the Blurb title in the Content Tree.
  2. Double-click the blurb title in the Content Area.
  3. Rename the Blurb.
  4. Select OK.
  5. Save Save icon your changes.
  6. Publish the Blurb.

 

Delete the Blurb

If you are looking to delete a Blurb altogether from the website, then follow these steps:

  1. Select the Blurb title in the Content Tree.
  2. Select the Delete Delete icon icon from the Home tab on the Content Editor Ribbon.

    • (or right-click the blurb title and select 'Delete' from the drop down options)
  3. Publish the parent folder that housed the blurb to ensure the blurb is removed from the website.

 

Untag the Blurb

If you are looking to remove the blurb from a results list, but still be active on your website in other locations, then you'll want to Untag the blurb.

  1. Select the Blurb title in the Content Tree.
  2. Select the Lock and Edit link from the yellow message bar to edit the properties.

  3. Scroll to the Topic Association Section in the Content Area.
  4. Remove the desired tagged item(s) (either from your Agency Categories or Lists) from the 'Selected' box on the right by double clicking on the item you no longer want it shown on.

  5. Save Save icon your changes.
  6. Publish the Blurb.
