Changing Folder Settings

When you view the page properties on a folder in the Content Editor, there are a variety of sections to configure. Here are a few of the common properties to focus on:

Assigning a Workflow to a Folder

It is very important to assign a Workflow to a Folder. If a folder doesn't have a workflow assigned, then any pages created under the workflow will not go through a workflow process and cannot be submitted by a Content Author.

  1. Navigate to the Folder using the Content Tree.
  2. Select the Content tab from the Content Area.
Content Editor Content Area - Select Content Tab
  3. Select the Lock and Edit link from the yellow message bar, if the Folder is not already checked out by you.
  4. Scroll to the Base Folder Data section and select your Agency workflow of choice from the drop down.
Content Editor - Base Folder Data area content
  5. Save Save icon the changes.
  6. Publish the Folder.

NOTE: Any pages already existing under the folder will not automatically inherit the workflow, so they must be manually assigned to have a workflow applied.

Change the Folder's Breadcrumb

When a folder is created, the folder name can appear in the breadcrumb trail if desired. By default, it remains hidden. Follow the steps below to display the folder name in the breadcrumb, change the name of the folder, and change the link destination of the folder.

  1. Navigate to the folder you want to change the breadcrumb settings on.
    Folder Breadcrumb Settings

  2. Scroll down to the Breadcrumb Data area.
  3. Modify the properties as needed.
    • Show on Breadcrumb - Toggles whether or not to display the folder title in the breadcrumb trail. It is unchecked by default.
    • Breadcrumb Link - Allows you to change the hyperlink to the folder on the breadcrumb. The default link is to the folder.
    • Title Override - Overrides the folder's title on the breadcrumb. When entered, it will display the Title Override name instead of the folder title. By default, it displays the folder's title.
    • Title Only - Toggles the title override to display only and does not include a link to this item in the breadcrumb. It is unchecked by default.
  4. Select the Save Changes Save icon icon located at the top left of the screen.
  5. Select the Edit Edit icon icon and then the Check In Check in icon option from the dropdown to unlock the folder.
  6. Publish the folder.

Connect the Media Folder

If you want to have media items, such as document files show up as a list or in search results for that folder, you need to connect the media folder that contains the document files to the folder that will display them. An example of this is the Press Release folder that displays both internal press release pages and also PDFs.

NOTE: This is for Full Migration Agencies Only.

  1. Navigate to the folder you want to connect to the related Media Library folder.
  2. Scroll to the Main Folder Details section in the Content Area.
    Main Folder Details
  3. Choose the appropriate Media folder from the drop down list that contains the document files you want displayed in this folder.
  4. Select the Save Changes Save icon icon located at the top left of the screen.
  5. Select the Edit Edit icon icon and then the Check In Check in icon option from the drop down to unlock the folder.
  6. Publish the folder.
