Public Invited to Informational Meeting Regarding the Intersection of Routes 190 and 83 in Somers

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will hold an in-person public information meeting concerning the intersection of Routes 190 and 83 on December 13, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at Somers Town Hall Auditorium, 600 Main Street in Somers. Town Hall is ADA accessible.

The purpose of the proposed project is to address safety and operational needs at the subject intersection. A traffic control signal project was implemented in 2017 that successfully reduced crashes, but it has resulted in congestion during peak travel times. This proposal presents concept plans to modify the intersection to improve functionality without compromising user safety.

“This proposed project will act as a follow up to the replacement of the traffic control signal at this intersection which took place several years ago. We intend to show concepts to the public that will increase the performance here, allowing people to get to their destination with greater ease without sacrificing the safety improvements which have already been made,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Andrew Correia. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the concept phase and future design.”

It is anticipated that there will be right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed improvements including construction easements, right to grade, minor property impacts, as well as property to be acquired in full.
